mashed potatoes

after trying (and falling in love) with yining's specialty, shepherd's pie, i decided to make one today! actually, i've been meaning to make it for a while now, and i did it today cuz C was able to meet me after work so i could pass it to him. he's been staying in the base camp every night this week, so once i knew he could "book out" tonight i jumped at the chance to make it. he's lost quite a bit of weight, must be all the running/swimming/diving that he's been doing. i've been trying to fatten him up by plying him with food, like when i heard that he doesn't eat breakfast because he doesn't have time i made banana cake for him so he could eat on the go! sans butter of course (:

anyways, i cycled out to buy the ingredients once i woke up (admittedly i only woke up at 12). came home, started boiling potatoes and mashing them. just as i was about to fry the chicken, i ran out of gas! so i had to wait for the guy to come deliver a new cylinder. i was afraid i would be late, but everything worked out well and i had enough time to bake it and bring it to the gym before meeting him for dinner. carried the pyrex glass tray to the gym, stuffed it in the locker and finally passed it to him! but, because i didn't tell him that i was giving him food in order to surprise him, he was so full that he didn't have space for it! and through a series of events, each time i wanted him to try just a mouthful i was thwarted. for instance, he was shy to try it in front of audrey and melvin (whom we had dinner with, they went to the gym too, yay!), and when we were finally alone we ran into his friend and he didn't want to try it in front of him too.  -.-

the point is, he didn't try it! not one mouthful! sobs. i even had to bring it back home because the base camp place he's staying in doesn't have a fridge!

next time, no more surprises. i'll tell him outright if i'm giving him any food!

also, my 2 week trial at california has just ended today! feel kinda sad, i've really loved going for classes and working out in a huge group! but as much as i like it, i don't think i will sign up just yet. i can't decide if i want to focus on yoga instead of the mishmash of classes at california. if so, i will sign up with true fitness instead. i went for a lesson with mal and their yoga instructors are really good. also, as a true fitness member you get access to true yoga too. but i prefer california's location, true fitness is located more in the cbd, which i'll hardly be in once i start work (oh, the irony!) and, not to mention their gyms seems smaller, from what i saw their shower stalls are severely limited and there's a long queue for it. tough choice huh, spend time queueing for a shower or face dirty looks from the people around you due to your post-workout stink. well, and also because i'm not working yet and i don't have a few thousand bucks lying around to fork out for their membership! although it works out to a very reasonable 50+ monthly rate. hmm. well, i'll be going for hot yoga with mal at true yoga tmr, so we'll see how it goes! never thought i'd become one of them gym rats (:

going to just hang out and chill with chris tmr! can't wait to have ya kun's kaya peanut toast, so simple yet so good! their peanut butter's sweeter than your average skippy, and somehow that complements the kaya really well. strange huh? try it and you'll know! (:
